El Qusseir City

El Qusseir is a small historical city located at the Red Sea, appr. 140 kilometers south of Hurghada , 133 km north of Marsa Alam . It dates back to the Pharaonic period and in the Roman Era it was called Leucus Limen or the “White Harbour” . In the Arab rule it was regarded as one of the largest ports on the Red Sea that was used for transmitting pilgrims to Mecca till the second half of the 19th century .Worth seeing is the ottoman citadel, dated back to the 16th century, the old harbor with its historical buildings in French & British style, the Faran mosque, oldest one in El Qusseir, built up in the 13th century, and the bazaars downtown with their Bedouin touch.
